Pet and animal care.

Senior experts for pet food, treat, supplement, diagnostics and pet tech companies, across product, compliance, channels, operations and finance.

What we solve

Where pet companies get stuck.

PILTA operators have scaled pet businesses through fast growth, new channels, new countries and acquisitions. These are the problems we solve most.

Demand outrunning supply

We add capacity at your plant, lab or co-packer and keep orders shipping on time as volume grows.

Sales stuck in one channel

We open the next one: vet clinics, pet specialty stores, Chewy, Amazon or your own website.

A product line that doesn’t match

We bring products, packaging and claims into one brand that works in every channel and country.

Compliance falling behind

We handle state registrations, label and claim review, and the quality system and lot control behind every product.

Costs rising faster than sales

We cut cost in sourcing, packaging and logistics and price each channel for margin.

An acquisition or merger ahead

We bring the brands, systems, data and teams together so the combined company runs as one.

Straight answers

Questions pet founders ask.

Who regulates pet food, treats and supplements?

FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine is the primary federal regulator. State feed control officials register products or license companies, review labels and enforce at the state level, and many states use AAFCO’s model regulations. Pet food needs no FDA review before sale unless it contains a food additive. Treats are typically regulated as feed, and a supplement’s claims can make it an unapproved animal drug.

Who regulates flea and tick products?

It depends on how the product is given. FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine regulates oral and injectable products as animal drugs. The EPA regulates most topical products, such as collars, spot-ons, sprays and shampoos, as pesticides, and most states register them as well.

How do pet brands get into Chewy, Petco and PetSmart?

Each retailer runs its own vendor application, item setup, EDI and vendor compliance manual, and shipping or labeling misses can lead to chargebacks. Buyers look for products that sell through, margin at their shelf price and reliable supply. We run the application, setup and launch plan with your team.
